Sand Pit, Woods, Gardens, and More at the Grow Enrichment Project Site.

GROW Enrichment is a non-profit organization that believes in increasing sustainable land use and engaging the public in the process of restoring urban green spaces. They invite the public to be a part of this work through classes, hands-on experiences, programs, and volunteer opportunities. They love running programs for children and helping kids connect with nature. To learn more about GROW Enrichment, check out their website

We love GROW Enrichment for its project site that is open to the public for use. It’s located in the Donelson neighborhood, right in-between Two River Middle School and the Two Rivers golf course. Their project site has a sand play area, filled with trucks, sticks, pots, shovels, pieces of wood, and other imaginative play objects, as well as a little wooded area. The wooded area is home to walking paths, fairy homes, forts, a picnic area, and just space to be adventurous and imaginative. There’s also a small wooden deck, a pond, and open space to run around. This project site is tucked away, about 100 yards from the parking lot, so it does feel pretty isolated and quiet. In the few times we’ve visited, we have only seen other people there once. Heads up, there are no restrooms on-site or close by.

Parking can feel confusing the first time but follow your maps to the GROW Enrichment location and you will pull into a paved “lot.” The project site is past the lot, down the paved road. The paved walkway is blocked for cars, but you can walk through and you’ll see the project area pretty quickly down the road.

While you’re bound to be sandy after playing, find time before or after to check out other fun Donelson spots, such as Nectar: Urban Cantina and the Two Rivers Park
