Gwen Thompson Briar Patch Park and Playground is a fantastic park with so much to do for kids of all ages.

The playground equipment here is fairly new and so exciting! There are also so many different play structures that it is really easy to spend a long time here. The playground has a rubber play surface instead of mulch, which is great with very little ones. The section for small children is huge with a variety of slides, a play car to climb in, and a playhouse as well as some obstacle course type equipment. Several taller play structures make up the rest of the park with tunnel slides and twisty slides, a "boat" that rocks and a variety of other really cool things to climb!

Two huge sitting areas with sun covers are on the playground which is helpful since most of the park is in full sun. Restrooms are open seasonally and are located right next to the playground. There is a large picnic shelter and a Little Free Library nearby as well.

A paved trail goes all around the park (so bring the stroller or scooters) and there are some more picnic tables and a small stream nearby. There is a large fitness equipment area as well as tennis courts, basketball courts and a volleyball net. The fitness equipment area is a National Fitness Court and the park website has a guide with advice about how to use each piece of equipment for a total body workout. The playground has a long row of swings next to the fitness area. The fitness area and swings are separated from the rest of the play equipment by a bridge over the stream.

Gwen Thompson Briar Patch Park and Playground is definitely a special place to visit and will make for a very fun day! One Loudoun shopping center is about ten minutes away if you are looking for a place to eat with a lot of choices like Matchbox for pizza or Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
