Lesser Known but Lovely Hike Outside of Nashville

This is one of my favorite day hikes near Nashville!  The Hidden Lake Double Loop trail was perfect for a cold, January day with little kids.  It's only 2 miles long but rewards with an easy path that starts near the river (start the hike clockwise).  The climax of the hike is the beautiful lake about halfway into the trail.  It's a beautiful, quiet setting (I could imagine some great swimming there in the summer).  Continuing on, there is a very steep, narrow section through which it is best to hold hands of small children to ensure they stay safely on the trail.  The trail curves on around and rewards with some beautiful views of the lake.  Bonus: we saw 6 people the entire two miles.

Tips: directions/map and porta-potty at head of trail.  Start counter-clockwise.  Trail was a bit tricky to know where exactly we should head at times, so I've included a picture of the trail map so you can ensure that you are headed in the right direction.  Dogs are allowed on leash.  Bring boots, as it was wet and muddy at time of writing.
