Homeward Hills Park Barn captivated us with its ample playground and surprise outdoor ice skating rink.

This park and playground is really a super nice stop for families. And I actually had no idea they have a couple of really nice outdoor ice rinks, as well as an all-important warming house. We did step out onto the ice when we first arrived because, well, that's what you do in a Minnesota winter when you're happily surprised with beautiful, smooth ice in front of you. We didn't, however, have ice skates with us, as we hadn't planned to skate. Still, it was easy to see the ice was well-maintained, which is not always the case with outdoor rinks. I can imagine that between the combination of multiple well cared for ice rinks and a warming house, the ice here is probably in demand.

The playground itself had plenty to keep littles entertained, though not as much equipment of course as the nearby Staring Lake Park playground. There were multiple "big kid" and baby swings, slides, climbing structures including little climbing walls, and stepping blocks. My girls were more than happy with the equipment that was at this playground, and they'd have stayed far longer, had we not had a pretty cold day for the park. I also noticed there were plenty of park benches here, which would be really nice for picnics, snacks, or just a break in the warmer months. There was also some tree cover, which is so important in allowing for shade during the summer months.

Parking was ample here, and we had no trouble finding a spot, despite several parents showing up for outdoor hockey practice. There are also restroom facilities, as there's a warming house/barn on-site.

After enjoying some time skating or playing here, head over to Nothing Bundt Cakes, also in Eden Prairie, for a super fun treat to share.
