Treat the Kids to Kid-Friendly Food with a Side of Stewardship at Portland's Hopworks

Hopworks Urban Brewery, or HUB, is the perfect place to take the family for some locally sourced pub food and a diverse beer list for the adults. With its eye-catching logo and warm atmosphere, the HUB always feels like an exciting social outing for the entire family. The kids menu is appealing to the pickiest eaters while also satisfying nutritional needs for those growing bodies. There are also several mix and match possibilities, so kids can enjoy a burger, pizza, or pasta while also opting for a healthy side such as kale chips, sliced apples, or steamed broccoli. While waiting for their food to arrive, kids can enjoy the coloring and word search activities on the menu. Since they no longer have their kids play area, they will now bring you a small bin of toys to play with if you ask.  There are also many delightful options for adults, from salads to meat and vegetarian burgers. They no longer have regular paper menus, but they now give you a QR Code to scan to access their menus online.

They have also expanded to North Williams Ave and Vancouver, WA but this review is focused on the SE Powell Boulevard location. Don’t let the word “brewery” fool you -- there are two large rooms plus an outdoor patio area that are open to families of all sizes and ages.

If environmentally conscious establishments and sustainable practices are important to you then this family-owned and operated business just got even more appealing! The HUB prides itself on being an eco-brewery, meaning their brewing practices are sustainable and they partner with organizations and nonprofits that support the community and environment. In fact, the HUB was the first certified B-corp brewery in the Pacific Northwest and their campus is the first Salmon-Safe brewery in the world. Even the kids' menu has some fun reminders and activities on how to protect the environment so they can also learn how to be stewards of our beautiful planet.

There are restrooms in the hallway behind the host station, right by the front door. The women’s bathroom has a baby changing station in the larger stall.

Booster seats and high chairs are available upon request.

Their parking lot next to the pub is quite small, but you will find additional parking in the lot farther down SE 29th Ave, it’s just a short walk up to the restaurant. If you’re not feeling up for eating in, they do curbside pickup as well and have a specified parking spot near the front door, in their parking lot. They also have bike parking right in front of the main entrance, where it is not uncommon to see several family cargo bikes locked up outside the Powell location while dining at the HUB -- the truest sign of a family-friendly Portland eco-brewery!
