A quintessential Big Sky experience, trail riding is the perfect way to enjoy the Montana landscape and find your inner cowboy/cowgirl.  Lone Mountain Ranch makes it fun and easy. They'll provide boots, helmets (if desired) and put you in a trail riding group led by an experienced guide. We arrived at 10:30 AM to the ranch, grabbed our size boots, and met our guide at the corral. After a quick explanation about the basics, we rode for a couple of hours around the ranch and through the Reflector Loop. We had perfect blue skies and the horses were easy to manage, even for beginners.  Our guide made us feel super comfortable and safe and we thoroughly enjoyed the surrounding vistas of Lone Mountain and the Big Sky valley.  

Tips: Kids under 6 not allowed on trails. Be clear in advance about your level of experience and whether you expect to trot/canter or simply walk. Wear jeans. Feel free to ask for a horse bag to easily carry your things (camera).
