Hands-on experience to feed reptiles and get up close and personal with lots of cool animals.

What we loved most about the Idaho Reptile Zoo was the hands-on experience with different types of reptiles in a very open space. They have more than 200 animals at their rescue center and have created an education-based activity for the whole family to enjoy.  We got to get up close and personal with snakes, turtles, alligators, crocodiles and many more animals. The mascot at the Idaho Reptile Zoo is Beast the blue tegu and my kids loved meeting this lizard.

My kids really enjoyed feeding the turtles in the turtle pond which doesn't cost anything extra and every 1st of the month they do a large feeding of every animal which takes all day and very fun and educational experience. We were able to enjoy every animal and get done in a little over an hour but you can for sure stay longer!

The Idaho Reptile Zoo is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M., and Sundays from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. Tickets cost $9 for adults, kids 13 and under are $6 (seniors and first responders also pay this amount), and kids three and younger are FREE.

A great local coffee shop across the street is called Awakening and it's so yummy for tea, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, muffins and more. It's located at 10650 W. Overland Road. The hours are Monday through Friday - 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday - 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday - 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you are looking for a great pizza place, we love Westside Pizza less than 2 blocks away from Idaho Reptile Zoo. They also have some fun games for kids to play after lunch.
