So much to see and do in this family-friendly Brooklyn complex.
Industry City has become all the rage in Brooklyn for families wanting to multi-task for a few hours. Originally an old shipping, warehousing, and manufacturing complex located on the New York Harbor in Sunset Park, Industry City is now a hub for culture, shopping, and food. The eight factory buildings, running from 33rd Street to 37th Streets, attract families and young urbanites on the weekends. The complex is home to great and eclectic shopping, wonderful quick-bite restaurants, art exhibitions, artist studios, coffee shops, an old fashioned arcade, a chocolate factory, an international food hall (my daughter loved the Avocaderia!), and even an indoor roller rink and an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter. Our family spent almost three hours there last weekend, first eating in the Japanese food hall and shopping in the Japanese grocery store, then buying some chocolate at the Li-Lac chocolate factory, then perusing the different restaurants in the International food hall (for our next visit!), and finally just walking from building to building and checking out the sites. Between shopping, dining and playing you can keep the kids occupied for hours on end!
Summer is known to bring more outdoor activities, including concerts and performances. Check back in a few months for some updates!
While parking is available both in a lot and on the street, Industry City is about an eight-minute walk from the D, N, and R subway trains at 36th Street.
