Enjoy the miles of beautiful walking paths along St. Johns River on the Jacksonville Riverwalk.
Downtown Jacksonville has developed miles of beautiful paths that follow the St. Johns river. The Northbank and Southbank Riverwalks make for scenic walks, jogs, bikes, and strolls. While any of the paths would give you ample opportunity to enjoy downtown Jax, our favorite is a loop that connects the two banks.
The Northbank Riverwalk begins at the Fuller Warren Bridge and extends for approximately two miles; however, I recommend starting at the Winston Family YMCA in Riverside and heading towards downtown. This stretch will lead you under Acosta Bridge, past the new outdoor workout space, and by the downtown greenspace. Once you reach the greenspace, cross over Main Street Bridge towards San Marco. The Southbank Riverwalk goes for miles east, but the easiest way back towards Riverside is over the Acosta Bridge. This bridge has pedestrian access on both sides, but the path on the east side will take you back towards downtown Jacksonville, which will give you easier access back to the Northbank Riverwalk. If you choose to take the path on the west side, you will more quickly end up back in Riverside, just blocks away from the Riverside YMCA. Depending on your route, this is a 2-3 mile loop.
Post walk enjoy grabbing a bite to eat in the Five Points area of Riverside, by Memorial Park, or head back across the river towards San Marco.
