Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens is described as a living, growing, vibrant outdoor classroom for people of all ages. The arboretum features paved walking trails that introduce visitors to native flora and fauna as well as a world-class collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. The Arboretum's mission is to promote environmental horticulture through learning, research and conservation. 

Our kids love to choose which path to take next, love to play "I Spy" and love coming across tiny chipmunks throughout the property. The plants are tagged throughout so we have fun trying to pronounce the complex names and is a chance to bring in some STEM learning for the little ones. There is a beautiful pond with waterlilies and it is picture-perfect during the summer. 

Public restrooms and a plant nursery are open to the public. We recommend arriving once they open on the weekends as tends to get busier on nice weather days. It is great for social distancing as many of the pathways are marked as "one way." It would also be a dream during parental leave as it can be very quiet and calm for a baby to enjoy plus there are park benches throughout for nursing/feeding or just simply resting.

Nora Sutherland grew up on Long Island, NY but has called the Greater Philadelphia region home for the past 16 years. She is a mom to two fun-loving, adventurous young children and has been honored to be involved with Happyly since its inception.
