Kure Beach is a popular family destination 15 miles south of Wilmington.

It has a small town feel and has loads of activities for families including the NC Aquarium, historic Fort Fisher, and a gorgeous waterfront recreation area - it's like a natural playground.

Other cool attractions include the waterfront park, one of the oldest piers on the Atlantic coast (for fishing and watching people fish:-), surf fishing and seasonal festivals and activities.  The live oaks and paths around Fort Fisher are so pretty and very stroller friendly.  The beach has good tides for shelling and power walking.  You can even get a pass from the Fort Fisher Recreation Area to drive your SUV on the beach (or rent from Sun Fun Golf Carts & 4WD rentals).  This is a great all-day family activity for fishing, shelling and just hanging out. Check out this link for seasonal events and must-do's.   Another great resource for the Greater Wilmington Area and surrounding beaches is whatsupwilmington.com.

Beach Access: If you don’t have direct access from your rental or hotel, make sure you check this link for town owned lots and metered spaces.
