A popular swimming spot for splashing and playing, La Jolla Shores Beach is great for all ages.

La Jolla shores is a very popular beach for families in San Diego, with its 1 mile stretch of sandy shore, great playground, bathrooms, parking lot and walking distance to a handful of restaurants it's easy to see why. Make sure to bring your snorkel gear because this beach is adjacent to the San Diego La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve so it draws sea life to its shores as well. Sting rays, guitar fish, garibaldi, along with others. In late August and September you will find large groups of leopard sharks, an exciting event in San Diego. Don't worry, they are harmless to humans, they have very small mouths and are nothing to worry about but it is an incredible sight.

Snorkeling aside, this swimming spot is also ideal for leisurely swimming, surfing, boogie boarding and also has bonfire pits. This is a hotspot in the summer, so it is advised to arrive early!
