Ski Liberty with the Family: Around an Hour and a Half from Washington, D.C.!

Bundle up, pack up the boards, skis, boots, and poles, and hit the slopes for some fun quality time with your family just over an hour from DC!  Check out these winter skiing ideas!

The weather may be slightly warmer than optimal around swampy DC in the winter, but the local ski resorts will be struggling to keep snow (man-made) on the mountain. As temperatures drop, the two closest ski resorts to DC, Whitetail Resort and Liberty Mountain make snow around the clock. 

While skiing is never an inexpensive option, both resorts offer somewhat discounted junior pricing for kids ages 6 to 12.

Whitetail and Liberty also have adventure tubing if you need a break from the slopes. 

Whitetail is 89 miles from DC and Liberty is 78. Both resorts offer overnight accommodations if you want to spend the night and make it a ski weekend.  Check the resort websites for lift tickets and ski rental rates.
