Liberty Park is the Central Park of Salt Lake City.  When we first arrived, we noticed a pop-up market along the side of the grass which a lot of people were exploring.  The park itself is absolutely massive with 2 playgrounds, 4 restrooms, a basketball court, a walking/jogging path, 9 water fountains, 4 volleyball courts, 3 bocce ball courts, a gazebo, a swimming pool, 10 horseshoe courts, 5 BBQ grills, carnival rides, paddle boats, and an Aviary.  It took me nearly an hour to scope everything out though I could’ve stayed there all day.

It was lively but didn’t feel congested due to its size. One of the playgrounds was set up to be made ADA Accessible and had obvious wheelchair ramps and fun features that even extended to the splash pad.  The carnival rides were a huge surprise to us and were so adorable and would be great for kids from ages 1 to probably 12.

There are also paddle boats for rent to take around the small pond and there’s a full swimming pool as well. Check out the Tracy Aviary if you want to learn about the local birds and feed some ducks!  There are endless ways to enjoy Liberty Park and we believe this is a must-add park to your Salt Lake City experience!

Emily Coleman is a Jersey girl born and raised who caught the outdoor bug upon moving to Vermont to pursue a degree in Adventure Education and Environmental Studies from Green Mountain College. She spent most of her years before college deeply entrenched in the world of competitive cheerleading before discovering a passion for outdoor sports including mountain biking, white water kayaking, bikepacking, backpacking, slacklining, rock climbing, and skiing. Having been surrounded by children her entire life in her mother's daycare, she always had a strong affinity for kids. She moved to the mountains of Jackson Hole after graduating to coach for the local Kayak Club during the summers and nanny in the winters. Becoming a part of the Happy Active Family team felt like the perfect collision of her passion for building strong community bonds and encouraging an outdoor lifestyle.
