Little Bennett is ideal for when you need a quick jaunt outside of the city and are craving some fresh air.

Do you and your kids LOVE camping? Are you unsure whether you like camping? Do you hate camping, but your partner and your kids keep begging to go?  Doesn’t matter!  We found the campground for you and your family! Little Bennett Campground in Clarksburg, Maryland is less than an hour from the center of Washington, DC, but it offers just enough seclusion to make you feel like you are detached from city living and enjoying the great outdoors.

Find Family-Friendly Activities for Everyone

Plan on having a fantastic weekend of hiking, making friends all over the campground (there are always lots of families camping here when we have stayed at this park), catching fireflies, and making s'mores. During the summer months, the campground shows movies at night on the weekends in the outdoor amphitheater and provides craft activities at scheduled times for the younger campers. The campground also boasts a shaded jumping pillow (like a bounce house without walls) and pedal karts.  Each loop of the campground has a concrete block bathroom facility and there are playgrounds scattered throughout.

Little Bennett Regional Park offers miles of trails for hiking throughout 3,7000 acres of forests and meadows and yet, if you forget something, you’re no more than 10 minutes from the grocery store and big box retailers like Target.  The campground offers 91 wooded campsites (RV sites, tent sites, and even 3 yurts) and each one has a picnic table, fire ring, and raised tent site. You can purchase firewood and some necessities from the camp store on site. You can also choose “Camper Ready Camping” if you don’t want to make an investment in gear!  For an additional rental fee, your campsite will be all set up for you when you arrive with a four-person tent, two camp chairs, a propane stove, and a lantern. Now there is no excuse!  Get camping!

Know before you go

Advanced reservations in the summer are recommended and you can choose your site when you reserve.  There is a two-night minimum stay on all sites. Tent sites are $26 for Montgomery County residents and $31 for non-residents.

For all of the particulars about the campground and to make reservations, go to the Little Bennett campground website.
