Market House Restaurant in Annapolis

If you’re planning a day trip to Maryland’s capital then the Annapolis Market House if a required destination point.  The market, like many others of its kind, specializes in fresh, local seafood and produce. Made to order grab & go lunches and dinners, coffee, cheeses, charcuterie, olive oils, dairy products, etc are featured at charming counter spaces throughout and can be enjoyed either on the go or at indoor or outdoor seating onsite.

What really sets the market apart though (aside from its near perfect location on the water in one of the country’s most historic and scenic ports) is that it’s been providing fare to Annapolis residents and visitors since 1780.  The Market House closed for the most part in 2003 after damage sustained from rising tides caused by Hurricane Isabel, but reopened in 2013 after undergoing a healthy rehab and redesign making it the must-visit landmark you’ll find today.

The Annapolis Market house sits at the very heart of the City Dock area of downtown Annapolis and would make a great first stop to get your bearings before embarking on a day trip to see the many sights worth exploring.   All day parking is available in various parking garages, lots and at two-hour parking meters around the City Dock. We parked in a lot for $3 per hour.

It’s hard to believe a space this exceptional was not in use for 10 years.  The energy and atmosphere provided now by the historic building and its many passionate tenants who are committed to making the spot one you’ll likely not soon forget makes Annapolis Market Space an ideal place to meet up after work, to take the kids on a day trip or just to stop in for coffee and a Madeline cookie before embarking on whatever you may have planned for your day.
