An educational and fascinating look into the Atlanta life and legacy of MLK.

Atlanta’s most famous native!  Take this journey to view the pivotal landmarks and learn about the legacy of America’s premier leader for societal equality and champion of the Civil Rights Movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  On the registrar of National Historic places, this park tour is mostly self-guided and consists of a number of important buildings, including MLK’s boyhood family home and the famed original Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Dr. King was pastor.  Here you can view the crypt of Dr. and Mrs. King, the eternal flame, freedom walkway, and stunning reflecting pool. Freedom Hall is the exhibition location on the park grounds where there is a theater, special events hall, bookstore, and gift shop where you can purchase copies of his famous speeches.  Not to be missed is the “I Have a Dream” World Peace Rose Garden; only one of five such places of peace scattered throughout the world.

The tour of Martin Luther King's childhood home is ranger-lead, and tickets must be obtained the day of the tour at the Visitor Center. You can not get tickets ahead of time by phone, email or in any other way and they are limited.

During the self-guided tour, you can even see places where the legendary and pivotal instrument for social change played as a young boy.

Admission and parking is free, but donations are highly encouraged with proceeds going to support national programs championing the education and philosophy of nonviolence.  The entire experience delivers an unparalleled afternoon of great educational and historic significance geared to enlighten children of all ages.

Pets are welcome at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Site, his church, fire station and his birth home. They must remain leashed at all times.
