All Aboard! Calling All Train Enthusiasts to This Fun and Interactive Play Space at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park.

Located northwest of downtown Phoenix, in Scottsdale, the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is operated by the city of Scottsdale's Parks and Recreation. This 30-acre park features a miniature train ride, model trains, carousel, playgrounds, shops, picnic spaces, and restrooms. Take a ride on the Paradise & Pacific Railroad train that goes around the park, or hop on the 1950's vintage Allan Herschell carousel. The train rides feature three beautifully crafted live steam engines and three Diesel engine trains. The typical train consists of eight gondolas, a cattle car, a caboose pulled by a diesel train during the week, and a steam engine during the weekend. When it gets busy on the weekend, they will pull out a second train. The length of the ride generally lasts about eight minutes and is fun for the kids.

The park also houses several full-size railroad attractions, including a full-scale Stillman Station, which is a replica of the Southern Pacific Railroad. These three authentic wood-framed depots are the specialty shops. The model train building features a 10,00 square foot space of seven different scales of trains. There are 360-degree views of HO-Guage, N-gauge, and O-gauge operating train layouts, and the layout allows everyone, including persons in wheelchairs, to get a view. Four model railroad clubs contribute to this interactive display, railroad information, and artwork. It's truly a one-of-a-kind space to see. There are also two historical railroad museum buildings, a souvenir shop, and two concession stands to grab a bite to eat. There are numerous full-size train displays of several cabooses, boxcars, and more. Needless to say, there is plenty to see here.

The playground area features several play structures, pretend train, and a swing set. The play structures have slides, climbing, steps, bridges, and interactive play stations. The play area is a mixture of poured-in rubber and sand. There are awnings that cover the park, so it gives some shade. Nearby the playground is several picnic spots to enjoy a snack or lunch and benches to sit and watch the kids play. There is another play space that looks like an old western stagecoach and building. This is a fun space to climb and pretend you are in an old western.

The city also hosts a variety of events throughout the year like the Holiday lights, Halloween, and more. You can also have group events and birthday parties at the park.

McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is one place you won't want to miss. This is a great place for locals to come again and again and one for visitors to come and see. Check it out for your next family adventure.
