Fishing, playgrounds, picnic areas, boating and bird watching abound at this park!

Merritt Point, the 36-acre park located in Dundalk southeast of Merritt Blvd on Dunmanway, is situated along Bullneck Creek and has access to boat launches and piers that can accommodate fishing and crabbing. (Those over the age of 16 will need a fishing license). While strolling along the water you’ll be sure to spot plenty of ducks, maybe even some egrets. On my last visit, I was lucky enough to see a large swan and a bald eagle!

With its mostly flat land strollers should be no problem. Older kids may also be able to enjoy a bit of biking, although the distance they can travel would be limited! If wheeled items aren't on your agenda, children can take advantage of two playgrounds; one for kids five and up while the other can entertain those under five. Both spaces have swings appropriate for the suggested ages. We recommend packing a picnic and enjoy on one of the many tables or even grills onsite! Pavillions for large parties can be used on a first come first serve basis or reserved through Baltimore County at (410) 887-7155. Dogs on a leash are welcome.

Parking lots provide plenty of close spots to the playground/picnic area and to the waterfront areas. There are bathrooms on-site, but they are not always open.

Enjoy the park and meeting lots of new people on the weekends, or have it all to yourself during weekday mornings. Either way, you’ll enjoy the spacious layout and beautiful waterfront views.

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
