Come see over 2,000 animals at the Metro Richmond Zoo.

Although the zoo isn't overwhelmingly large, It is easy to spend several hours in this place with several attractions, feeding experiences, and tours available. One of the most popular attractions is the Safari Train Ride which allows you to see the animals up close as if you were with them in the wild.

Another exciting ride is the Sky Lift which gives you a birds-eye view of several animal enclosures while experiencing the thrill of being in the air. They also have a zipline through the zoo that is exciting for any age! If your little ones get bored with the animals (although unlikely), there is a great playground in a shaded area to enjoy.

Another fan favorite is feeding the giraffes – all ages will love experiencing them eat straight out of their hands!

If you get hungry, there are two cafes throughout the zoo, the Cheetah Eat Cafe and the Penguin Falls Cafe. If you decide to pack your lunch, there are 13 covered pavilions inside the entrance and picnic areas with shade near each cafe.

There are hand sanitizing stations at all animal contact areas and restrooms throughout the property.

You can also rent a single or double stroller if your kids decide they would rather ride than walk.

Natalie Proctor
Natalie Proctor is what some would call a “Southern transplant” in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She grew up in Memphis, Tennessee before attending the University of Arkansas to pursue a degree in advertising and public relations with a minor in marketing logistics. Natalie attributes her love of the outdoors to her parents always encouraging her to have a deep appreciation for nature and all that the world has to offer. As a family, they spent many years growing up going on camping trips, skiing, rafting, and traveling together. While Natalie loves the seasonal lifestyle in Jackson, she was ready to become a part of something bigger and challenge herself. She found Happy Active Family at the perfect time, upon meeting Caitlin and Thomas, and strives to help other families spend meaningful time together, just as she has been able to with her own.
