Taste Brooklyn's best burgers and brews at Midwood Flats!

After a long day at Prospect Park, I was itching for some delicious and filling food.  I came upon Midwood Flats, a casual and popular neighborhood watering hole. After looking at their pub-style, American food menu, I knew it was going to be what I needed.

I was greeted by a charismatic and helpful bartender who doubled as my waiter.  He was full of answers and even helped me connect to the wifi so I could get a little work done while I was there.  It's a quaint space, with hightop tables, a bar, a long table running along the window in the front half, and a larger, more family-friendly space in the back half.  I noticed there were two other families present while I was there, the children ate delectable-looking burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches alongside their parents.

I ordered the veggie burger with a side salad and really enjoyed it.  There are a bunch of shareable options on the menu and if you're into craft beer, there were over 20 rotating on draft as well.  Though dimly lit, the sun streamed beautifully through the window into the hip space, providing lovely natural light.  I would recommend checking out Midwood Flats if you find yourself in the area.

Emily Coleman is a Jersey girl born and raised who caught the outdoor bug upon moving to Vermont to pursue a degree in Adventure Education and Environmental Studies from Green Mountain College. She spent most of her years before college deeply entrenched in the world of competitive cheerleading before discovering a passion for outdoor sports including mountain biking, white water kayaking, bikepacking, backpacking, slacklining, rock climbing, and skiing. Having been surrounded by children her entire life in her mother's daycare, she always had a strong affinity for kids. She moved to the mountains of Jackson Hole after graduating to coach for the local Kayak Club during the summers and nanny in the winters. Becoming a part of the Happy Active Family team felt like the perfect collision of her passion for building strong community bonds and encouraging an outdoor lifestyle.
