If you’re in Brooklyn Heights and want to grab a quick and healthy bite, Monty Q's is a perfect go-to spot.

Located on busy Montague Street, just a block from the subway entrance, you’ll find this casual Italian joint that serves great salads, brick-oven pizzas, and sandwiches in a counter-service setting. Or, you can take your food to-go and bring it to the nearby Promenade or Brooklyn Bridge Park for a picnic. We love the 10-inch pizzas for sharing (most in the $10 range), but they also sell slices.

She's spent the last 20 years far from her rural roots, living in large cities both in the US and abroad. Her family -- including her two daughters, age 6 and 10 -- just recently located to Brooklyn, New York after spending two years living abroad in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
