A Stroller-Friendly Outdoor Adventure with history, beauty and so much more!

Mormons Row is a mile-long trail that runs through the historically significant and preserved late-19th century settlement of Mormons into the valley. The 27 aged homesteads live placidly below quite possibly the most striking Teton horizon line that exists. You will recognize the iconic “barn in front of the Tetons” photo spot and can often see Bison roaming in the distance.

We were lucky enough to get a warm, clear spring day so I decided to let Hanah take her strider bike while I pushed the stroller full of snacks and sunscreen (zero shade opportunities). She had an absolute blast biking to each house and peeking through the cracks to see if anyone was home. We didn’t cover much ground very quickly due to her enthusiasm, but it was hard to get bored with the Teton views and bison in the background. Little dirt trails paralleled the main walking trail and made for a fun little "mountain bike" experience, which Hanah found exhilarating and slightly more challenging. And we're happy to report that the stroller fared very well on every surface. We took a lunch break on a tiny bridge before I pushed a tired Hanah and her bike the short distance back to the car.

We spent about 2 hours at this lovely spot, but there is no standard amount of time needed. The sights are all visible via car as well if you don’t have a lot of time. I highly recommend checking Mormon Row out even if you just do a drive-by or stop there for a bathroom break, lunch, or a quick photo.

My preferred way to access this walking, stroller-friendly, bike-friendly trail, is to make a loop. Head out of Jackson towards the airport and make a right onto Antelope Flats Road and take it all the way to the first left you see past the town of Kelly.  It’s about a 40-minute drive from town if you choose this scenic route, but worth it. On your way home, drive back to Jackson towards the airport to cut off some time and still get great views.

The bathroom is on site.

Emily Coleman is a Jersey girl born and raised who caught the outdoor bug upon moving to Vermont to pursue a degree in Adventure Education and Environmental Studies from Green Mountain College. She spent most of her years before college deeply entrenched in the world of competitive cheerleading before discovering a passion for outdoor sports including mountain biking, white water kayaking, bikepacking, backpacking, slacklining, rock climbing, and skiing. Having been surrounded by children her entire life in her mother's daycare, she always had a strong affinity for kids. She moved to the mountains of Jackson Hole after graduating to coach for the local Kayak Club during the summers and nanny in the winters. Becoming a part of the Happy Active Family team felt like the perfect collision of her passion for building strong community bonds and encouraging an outdoor lifestyle.
