Mountain Goat Market is a great stop along I-24 in Monteagle if you are driving through or hiking in the area. It has brightly colored goat murals on the outside which sets the eclectic, friendly, and warm vibe for the place. It has a huge menu that ranges from deli sandwiches to pizza and salads.
There is open seating inside - my favorite is the swings near the fireplace - and there is also limited outdoor seating on the porch. It can get very crowded but the day we were there they handled the crowds swiftly (took about ~15 minutes to get our food). You order at the counter, give them your name, and then they'll bring your food out from the kitchen and holler your name. My kids split a cheese pizza and I had the pesto sandwich (delicious). There are also ice cream and baked treats.
The food and ice cream were all excellent. When it is crowded you can experience a long wait.
