Municipal Children’s Playground in Bethany Beach, Delaware

The boardwalk at Bethany Beach is one of our favorite spots to visit when we are on the eastern shore of Maryland or Delaware. It’s smaller than many of the other boardwalks in the area, which makes it perfect for families with little kids. You can grab a meal at Ropewalk Restaurant, and then visit the beach. Alternatively, play games at Shore Fun Family Fun Center. No matter what your plan for the day, make time to enjoy the fabulous Municipal Children’s Playground.

Located at the end of the Boardwalk on Garfield Parkway, the playground is the perfect size for spending a bit of time enjoying the sun. The park offers large equipment with great climbing and sliding options for bigger kids as well as smaller equipment that’s perfect for toddlers. The playground also features swings for both big kids and babies. Visitors can also find a basketball and a beach volleyball court on site (although our kids usually just enjoy playing in the sand). Bring balls so your big kids can start a game.

The entire playground is fenced in so you don’t have to worry about little ones running off. While there are no picnic tables, there’s a lovely gazebo and a few benches. There are no restrooms on-site but you can find a bathhouse about two blocks away, next to the beach.

If you’re spending the day in Bethany Beach, be sure to stop by the Municipal Children’s Playground on the Bethany Boardwalk!

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
