Take a walk along the longest pier in Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.

If you need a change of pace from all the sand between your toes and want to see the waves on the beach from a different vantage point, Navarre Beach Fishing Pier is the place to be. We live in the area, and love to take all of our visiting friends and family members here. At over 1500 feet long and 30 feet above the water, a stroll along the pier makes a great outing. Parking is free and easy at the base of the pier and while it is considerably high off the ground, there are both steps and a stroller-friendly ramp to access it. To walk the pier is $1 for ages 5 and over, which can be paid at the gift shop right before the pier itself.

We love to see what the fishermen have reeled in on their lines as we walk. We can usually spot a pelican or great blue heron perched on the railings—seeing such big birds up close is always a pleasant surprise! It is less busy on weekdays, and if you are there early in the morning, you'll see a few people out walking or fishing, but it’s not too crowded. The views are great on a sunny day, but be aware that it can get breezy, so hold onto your hats…and bring a hat, because there is no shade. It’s also fun to head out when there is a storm approaching. That’s our family’s favorite time to go—we love watching the huge waves crash all around.

Restrooms (with changing tables) are located near the entrance to the pier and parking is right there, too. On beautiful beach weekends, if you are not already across the bridge to Navarre Beach by 10am, the traffic can get backed up and parking is more difficult to find.  But if you start early, it will give you plenty of time to stroll and stop for lunch with a great view at Windjammers, the restaurant at the base of the pier. Or, if you get a later start, grab dinner, then a beautiful sunset on the pier.
