Ropewalk Ocean City is a member of the Ropewalk family of restaurants but with a unique Ocean City twist.

There are three locations among Ocean City, Fenwick Island and Bethany Beach, but this one is by far the largest with its expansive indoor and outdoor dining areas.  We love visiting all three locations because of how kid friendly they are and this one doesn’t disappoint.

The outside seating is cabana style with sand flooring, a large playground where restless kids can retreat to while beach weary parents can enjoy a meal and a cocktail in peace.  Each time we’ve been there we’ve had opportunities to see some exotic wildlife from the Barn Hill Preserve of Delaware that the kids can hold and have pics taken with. There won’t be too many opportunities to take a selfie with a sloth or a baby kangaroo at many other spots at the beach, that’s for sure. (Be aware that they usually pack up the animals and head out around 5:30, so you’ll want to get there early if you want to take advantage!)

Each Ropewalk location on the Eastern Shore prides itself in offering great seafood and we find the best bang for our buck is to share one of the steamer bowls.  If you’re in the mood for sampling the catch of the day or a medium rare filet mignon, you’re in luck here as well. There are plenty of happy hour and dinner specials so make sure to ask your server, or you can check the website for times and details.

The service staff are friendly and attentive and waiting for a table during a dinner rush won’t be a problem thanks to the playground.  You can also enjoy some live music every day during the busy season and on weekends after Labor Day. There are certainly worse ways to catch a sunset on the bay when the weather is nice.

While perusing the menu you may notice the Gipper Burger (or you may notice the Reagan statue standing tall next to his face adorning many of their neon colored t-shirts) but there’s nothing partisan about the experience you’ll have at any Ropewalk location.  Exploring the history rich background of the original Federal Hill Ropewalk location in Baltimore is part of the charm here.
