Old Pipeline Trail

A hike right off highway two featuring the Tumwater, for all skill levels.
This trail is one of my main kid-friendly trails just outside of Leavenworth, Wa. It is located in the Okanogn-Wenatchee National Forest and is about 2.5 miles out and back. This trail is equipped with a large gravel parking area right off highway 2, a maintained bathroom and a gorgeous view of the river as you exit to start the trail. This is used for experienced white water kayaking in the peak of the summer and also a local swim hole. As you start the trail you come up on a beautiful red bridge, its iconic for a great photograph. Cross that bridge and start your journey! When it has rained the bridge can be flooded at times, so bring rain or waterproof boots if rain was previously in the forecast. This hike is scenic and but moderately trafficked, you have river views the whole way and beautiful rocks and cliffs off in the distance, during summer months my little ones have spotted climbers enjoying them as well. Dogs are welcome here. Strollers are possible, just look out for pieces of the old pipeline sticking up out of the trail. Great places to sit for a break or have a snack along the way! Pack it in and pack it out!
