Where to play with kiddos in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Whether you’re a three year old excited to whoosh down the slide, or an adult eager to break out the spikeball net, our playgrounds are special and sacred. Though they are all unique and special in their own way, Hanah (the 3-year-old), definitely has her preferred three and some great honorable mentions too.

1. Mike Yokel Park

An East Jackson favorite and our backyard playground, Mike Yokel is the whole package for us. It’s beautiful, grassy green lawn is large and entirely enclosed between a dead end street and quiet backyards. Filled with trees for shade, a sandy volleyball court, a large, lush field of grass, a covered picnic area, a gentle creek, and a phenomenal playground set up.

2. Miller Park

Miller Park is another park in town that really has it all. Located just two blocks away from the square, This happening playground is often bustling with other kids to play with. With lots of big slides, swings, and action, we could spend hours here. A great spot to head to pre or post meal in town. Bring a pickleball setup or basketball if you want to hit the courts!

3. Powderhorn Park

Located behind Hole Bowl, Axis, and Lucky’s, this park is great for post gymnastics or bowling. We often eat lunch here under the covered picnic area, and Hanah always finds other kids to run around with on the playground. It’s a simple park, but we love it!

Honorable Mentions

Snow King Playground, Phil Baux Park

Located at the base of Snow King, this playground is wonderful for climbing, sliding and swinging. Note that it gets super busy during events (like the People's Market) so you may need to be more hands on during these times with the littles. Restrooms and snacks available inside of the Snow King lodge.

Rangeview Park

Our favorite way to get to this secluded park is to take the bike path south of town. Truly the largest slide in Jackson exists here along with various other unique playground features. There’s a tiny park for tiny kiddos and a larger more exciting playground for bigger kids. Bring a picnic blanket and some snacks for a mid ride break!

Teton Village Playground- "Osteria playground"

Just outside of Hotel Terra, we love this playground whenever we’re at the village and need to let the kids get some energy out.

Owen Bircher Park

If you’re in Wilson, this is the playground for you. A gorgeous green lawn, grazing wildlife, a small nature trail, and an ice skating rink (in winter) all on top of having a great playground. Grab food at Nora’s or Pearl Street post play.

Emily Coleman
Emily Coleman is a Jersey girl born and raised who caught the outdoor bug upon moving to Vermont to pursue a degree in Adventure Education and Environmental Studies from Green Mountain College. She spent most of her years before college deeply entrenched in the world of competitive cheerleading before discovering a passion for outdoor sports including mountain biking, white water kayaking, bikepacking, backpacking, slacklining, rock climbing, and skiing. Having been surrounded by children her entire life in her mother's daycare, she always had a strong affinity for kids. She moved to the mountains of Jackson Hole after graduating to coach for the local Kayak Club during the summers and nanny in the winters. Becoming a part of the Happy Active Family team felt like the perfect collision of her passion for building strong community bonds and encouraging an outdoor lifestyle.
