Cool Down in Alexandria on the Area's Hot Summer Days

Located on the grounds of the impressively outfitted Lee District Recreation Center, Our Special Harbor is a Chesapeake-themed spray park that is easily accessible. It is a blast for Northern Virginia and DC area families with kids of all ages that are looking for a fun outdoor activity on warm weather days.

The large spray-ground features a variety of areas that encourage both lively and more subdued levels of play, which makes it appropriate for the whole family. The big kids especially love the large dump buckets, while the littlest ones love the water tables where they can stand and splash.

While sunblock is a must, there is a covered space inside the fence with chairs, conveniently located by the play area designed for smaller children. Strollers are permitted in certain places, including the shaded area.

Featuring Chessie the Sea Serpent, and just steps away from Chessie’s Big Backyard with playgrounds, a carousel, treehouse, nature walk, and an amphitheater, Our Special Harbor is free, so drop in for a quick cool-off on a hot day or bring lunch and make a day of it! There are plenty of options and ways to fit this all-ages spot into your day.

One of our all-time favorite NY-style pizza places in the area, Johnny's, is less than ten minutes away toward Kingstowne Plaza, and Moby Dick House of Kabob is even closer in the same direction.

If the weather begins to turn, My Gym Alexandria is just five minutes away and Scramble Indoor Play Place is ten. The John Marshall Library is less than a mile from the park.
