Head to this Lovely Owl Sanctuary in Brentwood with Hiking Trails!

In the heart of Brentwood, there's a gorgeous sanctuary and 300-acre nature preserve just for owls and it is a great place to visit with your kids to see owls relatively close, hike (trails are great for beginners), and picnic.  Per the website, "the grounds provide a sanctuary for nature that inspires exploration and lifelong environmental conservation."  You'll see owls in captivity, but these are not owls who could survive on their own.  Their stories are shared on information cards outside of their shelters.  You are also likely to see white tailed deer.

The sanctuary has restricted access in order to protect the fragile habitats and diverse wildlife.  The area offers a limited number of daily hiking Day Pass , school field trips, and a variety of Events that are open to the public throughout the year.

It was fun to go for a hike and then enjoy a picnic on the many picnic tables (some sheltered) on the property.  Trails are short and not very hilly.  We did the "yellow" loop (1 mile) which was only slightly inclined and went by a creek at one point.  There are plenty of picnic tables to enjoy your lunch.

Hours: Day Passes - 8:30 am - 3 pm (Tuesday - Saturday)

Tips: No Pets; reserve tickets online in advance; port-a-potties onsite; look for educational opportunities on the Events Calendar
