At first glance, it’s easy to see where the nickname “Geometry Park” came from. Colorfully painted cement shapes are arranged to create low walls, climbable shapes, and funky seating that stands out against the red brick pavers. When I visited Paradise Park, I was pleasantly surprised to feel a calm and peaceful setting with people reading and picnicking, including parents reading books to children inside a cement “O” in a wall and a family perched on the edge of a large triangle finishing their snacks from a local coffee shop. Neighbors chatted with neighbors, and a woman tended the small flower garden that runs along the side of this piece of Paradise.
Two blocks north of Cary Street and about ten blocks east of Arthur Ashe Boulevard, this gem is in the center of the block bordered by Floyd and Grove and between North Allen and North Vine. The alleys on the north-south streets provide secluded entrances to this little adventure.
