Patterson Park in Canton, Baltimore has everything you need for a day of fun!

At 134 acres, Patterson Park is nothing to sneeze at. The park boasts two playgrounds, a dog park, five basketball courts, 10 tennis courts, nine baseball fields, and nine additional sports fields. In addition to athletic amenities, the park features plenty of green space and a lake for birdwatching. While there, you can also check out the iconic Patterson Park Pagoda or watch the ducks at the small pond!

Baltimore's oldest park is truly an all-season destination: In the summer, you can take a dip in the Patterson Park Swimming Pool or kiddie pool. In the winter, lace up your ice skates and check out the Dominic “Mimi” DiPietro Family Skating Center. (While visiting Patterson Park is free, you'll need to pay a modest fee if you want to use the pool or ice skating rink!)

The numerous paved pedestrian roads and paths that weave through the park also make Patterson a great location for bike riding, scootering, and stroller running. The paths weave throughout the picturesque park and allow enough variety for a whole afternoon of biking without boredom! (There are some short stretches with steep grades that may require you to hop off and push, but those sections are limited!)

The park has portable toilets available for use in various locations. You’ll also find benches and picnic tables scattered throughout. Free street parking is available surrounding the park, but it’s a good idea to check out a map before you arrive to find the parking location that will put you closest to your desired destination in the park.

If your tummy is grumbling, there are a a few nearby spots to grab a bite to get takeaway for the park, including HomeSlyce Pizza BarSmaltimore, and R. House

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
