Paulie Gee’s Pizza Restaurant in Hampden

Paulie Gee’s is a fantastic pizza restaurant located off The Avenue in Hampden.  The location is locally managed and is a member of the Paulie Gee’s franchise that originated in Brooklyn, NY.  They specialize in Neapolitan influenced wood fired pizza and they do it with all the passion of any Brooklyn pizzeria.

The restaurant space is a large renovated warehouse space and in the center of it’s beautifully restored wood and metal industrial atmosphere you’ll find the beating heart of the operation.  More appropriately, the hearts - two custom wood fire ovens used to make all their culinary creations. Behind the ovens you’ll notice (how could you not) a two story tower of wood used to fuel the ovens.  Push a little further past the Great Wall of Fire Wood and you may even stumble upon the “Hidden Bar.”

Paulie Gee’s pizza offerings are anything but boring.  They’ve got cheese and pepperoni, sure, but you’ll also find pizzas topped with jalapenos, cured lemon, honey and an assortment of meats usually reserved for hanging in a butcher’s window.  While there isn’t a kids’ menu, the cheese pizza is a fan favorite with our little ones. Soft drinks are available for all ages and a full wine, beer and cocktail menu provides something for everyone.

The restaurant does not provide coloring pages, so be sure to bring some if you’ve got antsy little ones. However, the open kitchen in the center of the restaurant is so entertaining, you might not even need them. If you visit Paulie Gee’s around 5:30 on any night, you’re sure to see lots of little ones observing the kitchen operations with rapt attention.

The front dining area seats about 100 with plenty of room to navigate strollers or kids in a hurry to use the restroom.  The bar area accommodates about 50 adults (no kids back there please!) The restrooms are large and clean and everything is easily accessible by wheelchair.

Closing times are dependant upon how much dough is available on any given day.  The dough is made fresh on site without preservatives so if demand is high, they may run out prior to the posted closing time. We’ve never had an issue with this when eating around dinner time.
