En route to Brooklyn Bridge Park or the Promenade in Brookyn Heights and the kids are feeling a bit hangry (slang for hungry/angry)? Then be sure to stop by Perelandra Natural Foods on Remsen Street, just a block from the subway, to grab some organic, natural foods to go. Perelandra, a mom and pop store, has been serving Brookyn Heights since 1976. In addition to a great selection of natural foods and home products, our family goes for the homemade soups and sandwiches to go, and for a drink from the juice bar, and we take them to the Promenade and have a relaxed family picnic overlooking the East River and downtown Manhattan. Service is great and the store is clean.

Renee was born in rural Maine and spent her childhood days playing in the woods and tending to her family's farm animals and large garden. She's spent the last 20 years far from her rural roots, living in large cities both in the US and abroad. Her family -- including her two daughters, age 6 and 10 -- just recently located to Brooklyn, New York after spending two years living abroad in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Renee looks forward to exploring and discovering all of the active, family-friendly activities that Brooklyn has to offer!
