Newly completed Price Sculpture Forest combines art, play and nature in a family-friendly trail

Whidbey Island is a favorite destination in my family (especially Coupeville) because of all the outdoor adventures available, but it can sometimes feel like we've done them all! The Price Sculpture Forest was built on land donated by the Price family after they decided to build their dream home elsewhere on Whidbey.

Families who want a short walk, or have wheelchairs or strollers along, can choose the 4-ft wide and relatively level Nature Nurtured loop. A sturdier stroller could also tack on the Whimsy Way loop, which covers 100 ft of elevation change. Even completely a full figure-eight only amounts to 0.6 miles, so the littlest legs can make this hike work.

The organization plans to rotate new sculptures in over time, but the highlights for our family were the bark-covered T-Rex and the tall Playa Flowers made of colorful metal. Spot a wire-fashioned Pegasus flying overhead and compare your legs to the sturdy pair made of wood and wax.

A single portable restroom is in the parking area, which has space for roughly 10 cars (including an ADA space).

When you've finished your hike, pack the kids into downtown Coupeville (only about 10 minutes away or less) and enjoy a stroll down the beautiful wharf and a snack from Little Red Hen Bakery or Kapaw's Iskreme (open seasonally).
