Virginia's Reston Farm Market Celebrates Healthy, Local, Sustainable Food!

We stumbled on this impressively outfitted Farm Market just minutes from Lake Fairfax Park. It looked inviting and there was convenient and ample parking so we dropped in. An hour later we were still having so much fun, we were sad to leave to go on our previously planned outing. To start, the shop had so much to offer, from the expected farmers market offerings to a huge variety of Halloween decor and specialty items. After chatting with the friendly woman inside and paying $10/child three and over, we saw the mini train take a few loops around the garden and became excited about what was to come on this unexpected adventure.

When entering the fenced off area, we walked through a "corn" maze which was designed by The Campaign Against Bullying to tell the tale of Spookley the Square Pumpkin. After we exited the story maze, the kids immediately pulled off their shoes and ran to their first of five moon bounce options. The owners provide free apple cider, gingerbread cookies and apples to snack on and plenty of picnic tables and games to play, including corn hole, a large basketball activity, and a big connect four. Despite being contained in a fairly small area it was all really well laid out and even labeled in stations. There is a petting area and a friendly attendant was on hand passing out snacks for the animals that included a bunny, goats, chickens and roosters and even at least two little pigs. There was another child cuddling the bunny, but our crew seemed more interested in going up and down the giant bouncy slide. The bell soon rang for the next mini train ride and the little ones loved it. We played for a bit longer and when it was time to go the kids were encouraged to choose a pumpkin on their way out.
