Stroll down the canal while taking in the sights and history of Richmond at the Riverfront Canal Walk.

I always enjoy exploring a city when I get to walk along water – Richmond’s Canal Walk features four centuries of their state's history. As you walk along the sidewalk you will see history medallions, statues, and exhibits.

We loved checking out the street art, over 38 murals to see on the Southside of Canal Walk.

There are a number of different entry points to park and hop on the Canal Walk. I used the address 1512 Canal Walk, Richmond Virginia. Google maps tend to want to have you “end here” in the middle of the freeway. Canal Walk is under the highway so make sure to put in an exact address.

Insider Tip: The Canal Walk is definitely worth checking out but the sidewalk runs parallel to the water and there is no protection from the sidewalk to water. This could be a stressful walk if have a few children and curious little ones.
