Rockwell is a great spot to kick back with the whole family in Frederick.

You can thank Frederick’s budding craft brewing community for this little gem.  Located in historic Downtown Frederick, Rockwell Brewery brews all their beer onsite and offers a bit of something for everyone regardless of your individual beer palate. When you visit, you'll have your choice of enjoying your drink in the cozy interior tasting room or an open space, outdoor patio. The interior tasting room is beautiful but popular. We recommend that families visit on a day that will allow them to take advantage of the outdoor patio as it's the most kid-friendly seating choice. Regardless of where you sit, be sure to try one of the beer flights to truly appreciate the breadth of Rockwell’s offerings.  Rockwell also offers a well-stocked board game shelf where patrons can borrow a game to pass the time.

Make sure you show up hungry.  Although Rockwell doesn’t have its own kitchen, it does have the good fortune of sharing a parking lot with Family Meal, a member of the Bryan Voltaggio family of restaurants.  Rockwell proudly partners with Family Meal to serve some of their more pub-friendly fare (one of my favorite burgers, hands down, is included on the menu). Maybe you’ve seen Bryan on Top Chef… or Top Chef Masters.  Either way, go check out his offerings in the excellent company of some top-shelf craft beer by true masters who love their craft. Rockwell also allows patrons to bring their own food or order out from one of the many local delivery options.

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
