Ross Elementary School Playground in Northwest, Washington, DC
Beautiful, new, Kompan playground available on weekends and outside of school hours. This playground is super for climbing, exploring and sliding. They have several music and drum options for your creative kids, a club house and seating areas. It's best available after school hours and weekends, when school is not in session.
If your kiddos like playing soccer, there's also a small turf field. Or, you can bring a frisbee or other fun and portable lawn games to spread out with. Younger kids may prefer the playground while older kiddos might want to be independent and play on the turf field. Both the playground and field are fenced in.
This playground was just recently renovated in 2019 to be safer and more modern, and the play equipment is now more natural and clean looking. There is a fun climbing feature, slides, little houses to run in and out of, and soft padding on the ground which is much better for preventing those inevitable scraped knees!
All equipment is new and from Kompan, an Austin, TX based playground equipment company that researches which designs will excite and inspire children to play and use their imaginations on the playground.
If you need some energy, Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe is a 5 minute walk from the school. The cafe offers breakfast as well as lunch and the attached bookstore is very kid-friendly. It's definitely worth a stop if you're im the area.
Moby Dick House of Kabob and CAVA are ten minutes walk away.
