A day out with the family that includes history, slides, and peacocks!? At Sahuaro Ranch Park, that is exactly what you get!

Located just outside Phoenix, this historic park was founded in 1886 and was a working ranch and farm. Now you can find a playground for the kids, plenty of space for them to run around, peacocks that wander the park, and some original ranch buildings that are popular to take photos of. 

The playground here at Sahuaro Ranch is actually super unique. The play structures are suspended using the EVOS system. In fact, this is the first playground in the entire world to do this! You will notice that most of the features are actually off the ground and are mainly made up of climbing nets and ladders. It's a fun playground and definitely good to try when your kids are getting tired of the usual playground equipment. These playgrounds are best suited, however, for ages five and up. 

Sahuaro Ranch is listed on the National Historic Register list and offers guided tours through the 17-acre ranch, rose garden, barnyard, and orchards. And even more fun? They have peacocks that roam the grounds. Peacocks are always a huge hit for kids (ok and adults!), and it's always fun to see them out wandering around! 

If you need to stretch your day out a little bit longer after the park, there is also the Glendale Public Library's main branch that you can stop in and spend some extra time.
