Sioux Falls' Sculpture Walk offers a unique way of seeing the city.

Before we visited Sioux Falls, I honestly had no idea what the Sculpture Walk was. I was very pleasantly surprised by the culture and arts of the city. The Sculpture Walk offered a unique way to entice the kids into walking around the city. I thought it was fun; I haven't seen a city do something like this across the entire city before. Sculptures are basically all over the city in a walking tour of sorts, encouraging visitors to really experience Sioux Falls by foot. It's a smart idea.

Sculpture Walk has been a fixture of Sioux Falls' arts scene for 17 years, and the installations change periodically. The actual sculptures themselves change each year, so they have a full year of the display around town. There are 14 awards the artists can win each year for outstanding artwork. The Sculpture Walk program is run entirely by volunteers, which is amazing for such an undertaking. Over 60 amazing sculptures comprise the walk, and you can even print a full map showing where each is located. The art was all so beautiful and unique; I'm glad the girls got to see all the different art. After you finish enjoying the Sculpture Walk, be sure to see the biggest sculpture in Sioux Falls, the Arc of Dreams Monument, arching across the Big Sioux River.
