An easy hike for all ages with beautiful views.
Sherwood Loop is a gorgeous 2.5-mile hike about 20 minutes from the Monteagle/Sewanee area. It’s a great hike for families because, while it is mostly very flat, it hugs along the ridge and so you can enjoy views (if the leaves have fallen a bit). We went counter-clockwise from the parking lot. There is a nice, natural bridge about 0.75 miles into the hike. Once you pass the natural bridge, the boulders get very large and interesting and fun to explore. There are some steep parts so do hold the hands of very young children. The trail is well marked.
Tips: No bathrooms or port-a-potties. Dogs must be on a leash.
