A family friendly restaurant with a children's play area and great breakfast!

Silver Queen is a small place, hidden on a charming city block in the Hamilton neighborhood. Once you’re inside, you quickly see why it’s a local favorite. The decor is charming and the servers are welcoming. The food is fresh and seasonal and usually pays homage to Maryland. Most exciting for families, a small alcove by the front windows is dedicated as a play space for children. With a play kitchen and dolls, it can keep the children entertained so that you can actually finish a meal.

They do dinner service starting at 5:00 p.m Wednesday-Saturday. The menu is always changing but it’s also always delicious. There are usually 6-8 options for appetizers and 6-8 options for main courses, but they make sure to vary the dishes so that they suit a variety of tastes. Main dishes are $15-25 and appetizers are $9-$15. They also offer a children’s menu with dishes specifically tailored to the tastebuds of little ones.

Brunch service is offered on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Like the dinner menu, the brunch menu changes but you can be assured that favorites like waffles, pancakes and eggs will be available.

Both dinner and brunch are BYOB and they charge a $5 corkage fee per table. The restaurant is very small and can get busy. It’s best to come early in the service to ensure you get a spot or to make a reservation.

What we love about Silver Queen is that it’s the kind of place we’d still come to on a date night without our kids. So grab a bottle of wine, put the kids in the car and head down to Silver Queen for a family meal that everyone can actually enjoy.

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
