Centrally located in Coronado and blocks from the restaurants and shops, Spreckels Park and Playground is a personal favorite.

The park has beautiful trees and green spaces inviting you to stay a while. The trees are so unique that they even have their own walking tour!

Spreckels is a ten-minute walk from the beach and boardwalk and is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Spreckels has two separate play structures serving both toddlers and big kids.  The playground has baby swings, a big kid swing, and a therapeutic cradle swing. There are only just a few of each so there is sometimes a wait. Nevertheless, the play structures provide tons of entertainment on their own. There are unique climbing structures, a steering wheel, a cute little mini table, monkey bars, and a “fireman’s pole.”

The library is across the street so we love to coordinate our park visits with library programming (story time or music) or a chance to take out a new book and read it in the park too. You’ll see many parents out with their picnic blankets and some sandwiches from one of the cafes or restaurants close by.

Restrooms are located on the opposite side of the park from the playground.  In the summer, the park hosts concerts and other fun family events at the gazebo. These are super popular events, so try to get there early to score the perfect spot. The park also hosts community events such as the Coronado Flower Show and holiday celebrations for kids.
