Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden

2025 Independence Boulevard

happyly approved

Venus Flytraps are only found in the Greater Wilmington Area!

So this may sound like a snoozer but it's a hidden gem, tucked behind Edwin Alderman Elementary School and is a best kept secret by native Wilmington folks.  The park is part of the Piney Ridge Nature Preserve.  It's accessible by stroller with a concrete walking trail and wooden observation decks.  The garden is home to native carnivorous plants like Venus Flytraps and Pitcher Plants.  Our fam thinks it's pretty cool to see plants that eat stuff!

While walking through the trails, we kept thinking it's a great backdrop for a family photo, so bring your camera-ready fam with smiles on!  The Garden is protected by a conservation easement held by NC Coastal Land Trust.
