As the second oldest craft brewery in Virginia, Starr Hill Brewery has a laid-back, cozy atmosphere with a relaxed vibe right outside of Charlottesville.

Once you walk in you order at the station at the bar and then find your seats. There is a smaller space indoors in the tasting room to sit or you can go to the much larger outdoor space. Starr Hill Brewery is dog-friendly on the patio for leashed pets. When food trucks are present they are right outside of the outdoor seating area.

They have a large variety of beers on their tap and have a build-your-own flight option that is great for those wanting to try several different brews. There is also live music on some days, so check their calendar to plan ahead to enjoy a live performance that the kids will love too!

Check their website or call to see if there are any food trucks coming during your visit, otherwise, outside food is welcome. If there aren't food trucks that day, pick up some local food-to-go and bring it in to eat at the picnic tables while you sample their craft beer. You can preview what is on tap on their website, and keep up with their events on their Instagram also. Each month, Starr Hill Brewery supports a local charity. $1 for every pint of their lager "The Love" sold in this location is donated to one of their chosen non-profit organizations. There are other Starr Hill Brewery locations in Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Roanoke, and Richmond, but each is different from one another!

If you fall in love with a certain beer at one of their locations and want to try it again, you can use their nifty "beer finder" tab on their website to check where it is on tap and distributed.

Natalie Proctor
Natalie Proctor is what some would call a “Southern transplant” in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She grew up in Memphis, Tennessee before attending the University of Arkansas to pursue a degree in advertising and public relations with a minor in marketing logistics. Natalie attributes her love of the outdoors to her parents always encouraging her to have a deep appreciation for nature and all that the world has to offer. As a family, they spent many years growing up going on camping trips, skiing, rafting, and traveling together. While Natalie loves the seasonal lifestyle in Jackson, she was ready to become a part of something bigger and challenge herself. She found Happy Active Family at the perfect time, upon meeting Caitlin and Thomas, and strives to help other families spend meaningful time together, just as she has been able to with her own.
