Mouthwatering food, delicious coffee, and desserts will leave you wanting to come back for more.

Located near downtown in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte, the Sunflower Baking Company is the place you have been looking for. Locally owned and operated with homemade products from scratch, this place offers freshly brewed coffee, sandwiches, and small-batch pastries, cookies, and bread. This location has only been around since 2009 and has been a local favorite ever since. They support local vendors wherever they can, and all of their creations are handmade on-site from basic raw materials. There are no mixes, shortcuts, or pre-made anything here, and you can tell the quality of the food. Sunflower Baking Company even regularly stocks vegan cookies, muffins, breads, and other treats as well as gluten-free items such as cheesecakes, chocolate souffle cakes, macaroons, and other goodies. Do note that the facility is not gluten-free, so trace levels of gluten are possible. Their coffee is sourced from Pure Intentions Coffee, which is a local Charlotte specialty roaster. Pure Intentions makes a Sunflower Baking Company-specific house roast, which is a blend of beans sourced from farms in Central and South America. Every month they provide a light roast from single-origin coffees from around the world. They have exclusive Sunflower espresso and cold-brewed coffee blends. Along with coffee, Sunflower Baking Company offers Rishi Teas from Matcha to Masala, Green to Black, and several Oolongs. There are several choices of egg sandwiches for breakfast, and for lunch, they have sandwiches, soups, and grilled paninis which are all made to order on their fresh baked bread.

Can't visit the store every day? Sunflower Baking Company does local deliveries from their website and ships their homemade goodies nationwide. Need a pick-me-up at the office? They have a variety of catering options as well.

When products are not sold at the end of the day, they pack it up and take it over to the Salvation Army and other charities to be given away. This is just one of the many ways they are giving back to the community.

The hardest part about coming here is deciding what to eat. Everything looks and tastes so delicious, it's really hard to decide. Don’t just take my word for it: go check it out. There is something for everyone here to enjoy.

You can visit them on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter @SunflowerBaking, and Instagram @sunflowerbakingcompany.
