Beautiful state park with camping, hiking, lake swimming, and more.

A beautiful mountain serves as a backdrop to this 3,000-acre park where you can enjoy camping either in a tent, RV, or one or their cabins. Cool off from the heat in an old fashioned swimming hole on the lake. There are also 80 miles of hiking trails that take you past numerous waterfalls and streams. Take it to the next level and hike to the top of the pinnacle or Table Rock Mountain.

The campground was a nice area with a spacious amount of room between neighbors. These sites also have electric and water hookups which are common for most South Carolina State Parks. There is a bathhouse with toilets and hot showers. Easy check-in at the campground store and the campground host was available for any questions you might have. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring to enjoy your camping experience.

While camping, we took the kids on the Carrick Creek Nature Trail. This was a great trail to see many waterfalls and streams. This moderate trail was around 2 miles and had several steep climbs. This trail is right by the lake so the best part was taking a swim after. The trail is not stroller friendly so a carrier is needed. The lake is perfect for swimming and the sandy beach is fun to build castles and moats. The concession stand was open for snacks, ice cream, and drinks.  You can also rent canoes, kayaks, or paddle boats to go around the lake.

This would be a great campground for summer fun with the lake swimming and activities and waterfalls. Fall time would be gorgeous to see the changing of the leaves. You can also come on a day trip and enjoy swimming and hiking. Either way, you're in for a great time.
