Tarr-Coyne Wild West Playground on Manhattan's Upper West Side

The aptly-named Wild West Playground, located on Central Park’s west side at 93rd St., will not only fuel lots of activity in your kids young and old but spark the imagination too because everything here is designed to look like – you guessed it – the old Wild West.

That means lots of wooden beams to walk across, wobbly drawbridges (leading over grand canyons, no doubt), sandy play areas, tire swings, and wooden climbing structures meant to resemble the buildings in a frontier town.

The circular sandpit is always a big hit, and conveniently right in front of the swings so little siblings can watch as they’re pushed back and forth while the bigger kids dig!

The park was renovated as recently as 2014, conveniently dividing play areas by age group and making it more accessible for kids of all abilities. So let your little sheriffs run around or swing on the swings (all types are available – including infant swings and wheelchair swings too!) until they’re ready to explore the wilds of Central Park just outside the gate.
